Only recently has it come to light that Steve Ditko did a strip for an overseas comic called TINY TOON ADVENTURES based on the animated show featuring junior versions of the famous Warner Bros. cartoon characters. The search was on to find out the details and, better yet, to actually see artwork from this strip!
Thanks to U.K. Ditko fan, Nigel Kitching, the mystery is solved! The story was five pages long, done for the Marvel U.K. comic, TINY TOON ADVENTURES #4, cover-dated April 1992, written by Terry Collins, and inked by Steve Collins. Nigel says the Tiny Toon comic features the five page strip by Ditko plus another two
page strip by somebody else. The rest of the issue is filled up with about 10 'feature' pages.
Oddly, the pages of the two strips are printed out of sequence. First comes Page 1 of the Ditko story; then page 2 of the other story; page three Ditko; page 5 of Ditko; page 4 of Ditko; and Page 2 of the Ditko story turns up as the second page of the other story. As Nigel says, a reader wouldn't have a prayer of making heads or tales of the book!
Still, it leads to romantic notions for Ditko collectors that more undiscovered, overseas Ditko stories exist, waiting to be found! People have often wondered how Ditko supported himself during the early '90s, and maybe this lends us a clue.
